What is CEREC? CEREC stands for Ceramic Reconstruction. It is a combination of Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturer (CAM) that produces extremely high quality dental restorations at the chair side in one appointment.

CEREC is a modular CAD/CAM system for creating all ceramic restorations in one appointment. The advanced blue light scanning technology enables the full potential of digital impression taking. Hugh Fleming Dentistry offers the very latest CAD CAM technology that Cerec AC has to offer.
Cerec AC is able to produce full ceramic (porcelain) inlays, onlays, crowns, veneers and now even up to four unit bridges with an extremely high degree of accuracy. It combines the advantage of a broad range of indications with comfortable patient treatment all in one appointment.
There is no longer a need for traditional impressions or temporary restorations while waiting for ceramic lab work to be completed, thus making your time better utilised in a more efficient manner.
What does the procedure involve?
- The defective filling material and decay are removed and the cavity is reshaped for the new restoration. A reflective powder is applied and the tooth is ready for scanning.
- An optical 3D image is then taken with a small camera. The ceramic restoration is designed on the computer screen using the image data. The restoration is then automatically milled from a solid ceramic block, this is produced so precisely that it may be fitted and bonded to the prepared tooth during the same visit to Hugh Fleming Dentistry.
- After polishing and glazing, the new restoration is fitted using a unique light and bonding material, uniting the tooth and porcelain.
