What is Sleep Dentistry?
Sleep Dentistry is the use of medically administered and supervised intravenous (IV) sedation.
It uses a combination of sedative and pain relieving drugs that create a drowsy and dreamlike state of deep calming relaxation for the entire duration of your dental procedure.
Sleep Dentistry is one of the most advanced forms of dental sedation available and is a safe and highly effective way of overcoming the fear, anxiety and discomfort that may accompany a visit to the dentist, making it a relaxing and comfortable experience.
Unlike a General Anaesthetic, IV sedation does not require hospitalization. You can have Sleep Dentistry here at Hugh Fleming Dentistry whilst you rest comfortably in the dental chair.
Sleep Dentistry begins even before the dentist gives you an injection. It is precisely adjusted and modified to each patient’s individual needs. When the procedure is complete you wake up with little or no memory of any noise, taste, smell of the dental work and to be unaware of any injections or drilling that has been carried out.
You will be ready to go home after only a short waking up period.
Sleep Dentistry is administered by Dr Bree Belford (Dentist), an experienced and qualified medical doctor in the field of medical, surgical and dental sedation techniques. He currently maintains a full time practice providing sedation exclusively to dental patients. He is by your side the entire time.
